QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK:
Queen Elizabeth national park is the most popular park in Uganda, evidenced by the number of tourists visiting each year, It is famous for its tree-climbing lions located in the Ishasha sector and it is blessed with an assortment of carter lakes, forested gorges, savannah plains, swamps and the magnificent Kazinga channel. The park covers 2000 square kilometres and includes a remarkable variety of Eco-systems, from semi-deciduous tropical forests to green thickets, Savannah and swamps. It is the home of, the Uganda kobs and other antelopes as well as elephants, buffaloes, hippos, baboons, leopards, and chimpanzees. Over 500 species of bird have been recorded here making it a prime target for birdwatchers. Species recorded include the shoebill stork, black bee-eater, 11 types of kingfishers, several falcons and eagles. In the crater lakes, spectacular flocks of flamingos gather creating the image of a moving pink carpet. The launch trip along the Kazinga channel between Lake George and Edward is a memorable way to view the abundant game in Queen Elizabeth national park. North of the main gate is the crater area, one of the most scenic parts of the park. To the east, in the Kyambura gorge, visitors can climb through tropical forests and catch sight of a variety of primates including chimpanzees. In the most isolated Ishasha sector of the park, search the woodlands for the tree-climbing lions perching on the boughs of ancient fig trees. To the southeast, travellers can explore newly opened trails in the Maramagambo forest.
ITINERARY
DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN ENTEBBE
You arrive at Entebbe international airport and will be picked up by our company staff to the hotel or lodge of your preference for an overnight at Lake Victoria Serena hotel or 2 Friends beach hotel Entebbe.
DAY 02: KAMPALA- MUBENDE – FORT PORTAL- TOORO ROYAL PALACE
Enjoy an early full buffet breakfast and depart to Mubende where the Nakayima tree is found, a tree which is said to have women's breasts. Have lunch in Fort portal town and proceed to Karambi tombs and thereafter to the royal palace in Toro kingdom for traditional narrations by the natives. Dinner and overnight at Mountain of the moon hotel or Ndali lodge.
DAY 03: FORT PORTAL –KIBALE NATIONAL PARK
Have an early morning breakfast and head to Fort Portal where you will have a tour to “Mabere ga Nyina Mwiru,” visit the crater lakes and have a glimpse of the mountains of the moon as fort portal lies in its shades. Checking in at Chimp’s nest or Kibale Forest camp for lunch. In the afternoon, have a nature walk around the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Chimp’s nest or Kibale forest camp.
DAY 04: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Have an early morning breakfast and head to Kibale National park for chimpanzee tracking. The park harbours the greatest variety of primates especially Baboons and chimpanzees and also protects a large block of rainforest birds. Forest walks and primate viewing will be carried out, expect to view different tree species and hundreds of birds. Have lunch and relax at Primate Lodge or Kibale forest camp, later check out and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 05: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Start your day with the excitement of a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park with its diverse Eco-systems of grassy plains, tropical forests, rivers and swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffalos, forest hogs, Uganda kobs, giant forest hogs, bush backs, and water backs, have a medley of wounders one needs to physically witness. In the afternoon enjoy a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel, birds and lots of wildlife come along the channel to drink water and you may have a chance of witnessing predator-prey actions. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 06: ISHASHA-KAMPALA VIA MBARARA
Have an early morning breakfast at the lodge and drive to the Ishasha sector in the southern part of the park in search of tree-climbing lions, Buffaloes, and other primates while taking memorable photographs of the true African wildlife. Return to Kampala on a leisure drive, en route lunch at Igongo cultural centre in Biharwe-Mbarara. Dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria Serena resort or 2 Friends beach hotel Entebbe.
DAY 7-DEPARTURE
Reserved for your departure from Entebbe.
