Birdwatching
Uganda offers one of the best destinations for birdwatching worldwide as the wildlife is full of colourful birds and a total of 1,090 different bird species live in Uganda. In any National Park, you visit you will find and see beautiful bird species like shoebills, hummingbirds, kingfishers and pelicans. Even colourful and rare birds like the Great Blue Turaco, Doherty's bushshrike or Shelley's Crimsonwing can be encountered regularly.
Even on regular hikes or walks in nature or forests, one can experience a big variety of bird life. On safaris or around lakes you can also watch some of the bigger birds like eagles, pelicans, herons or vultures, and even some huge ostriches can be seen in the country's National Parks. The spectacular Marabou stork can even be found in cities and towns.
